[Boy, someone sounds inexperienced with phone calls. Or talking to near-strangers. Probably a bit of both, if Nick had to guess. Then again, it sounds like they might be in about the same boat regarding being thrust into a leadership position. From the sound of Kate's post, she hadn't exactly picked out a new leader before making her decision.]
Getting the Clinic and the Guard on the same page is a good idea. You need me to come to you, or is it easier for you to come to me?
[ It's a little of both but in this case it's 90% nerves over the new position and not knowing how to be professional. Nick's response does a lot to put him at ease, though, even if he's still worried. ]
It probably depends on when you have a moment. I need to head to north island soon anyway to tend my garden, if it would be simplest to meet you at Guard headquarters. Otherwise I'm at the clinic most of the time these days.
[He's finished up his patrols for the day, and it's tough for him to row from one island to another with a rusty hand, so sticking around the headquarters is far easier for him. Gives him time to get some paperwork done, too. By the time Pell makes it there, he's the only one in the building, sitting at his lonely desk working away on paper for a new map. If the Null are getting close, there's no doubt they'll be moving soon -- and he wants to be prepared, given they never know what they'll be facing in a new world.]
[ Pell takes awhile to arrive -- he chose to wait for help with the boat, something he's glad he won't have to struggle with for much longer even though he isn't excited for the possibility of the frozen planet. But he does make it -- he has a bag of gardening tools over his shoulder, but no dirt on him yet. He'll head there after.
He was not, however, expecting a synth, and blinks in surprise at the only person in HQ. At the desk across from what he knows used to be Henry's, so it must be Nick. ]
[Though he glances toward his visitor at his name, he finishes what he's writing before gesturing to the seat across from his desk. He gives Pell a polite smile; if he noticed the surprise, he doesn't mention it.]
Just Nick, please. Sorry it took us this long and a change of hands at the Clinic to actually meet. I don't get out as much as I used to.
[For multiple reasons, though the cane leaning against his desk might be an indicator of one of them.]
[ It only lasted a moment, anyway. Pell takes the seat, noting that the hand Nick gestures with seems... rusted? He knows of that one newcomer -- maybe not so new now -- who was trying to gather parts for injuries to non-organic life, but not where that project is at. Nowhere right now, he would assume. ]
So am I. I just always spoke to Henry, and still Glacius directly. No matter, we're speaking now. May I ask you... does that hurt?
[He follows Pell's eyes to his bare, rust-covered hand.]
Oh, this? Nah, I lost the skin and the sensors in this one ages ago. It's more of a nuisance than anything.
[This isn't exactly the line of questioning he expected, but hey, that's what getting to know one another is all about -- and it's something they should probably do if they'll be working together.]
[ He reaches a hand out curiously, waiting to see if Nick will offer his in return. It's possible he could do something about it, given time and practice. ]

What kind of metal is it, do you know?

[If anything, he tries not to.]
